A fulfilment instruction should tell the warehouse exactly what to pick, how to pack it and where it should go. Clear order data helps prevent avoidable clarification at dispatch.

Logistics guide

A fulfilment instruction should tell the warehouse exactly what to pick, how to pack it and where it should go. Clear order data helps prevent avoidable clarification at dispatch.

Define the order rules

  • Provide item codes, quantities and the delivery address in a consistent format. Identify any order priority, customer reference or required shipping label.
  • Agree on packaging rules and whether orders need inserts, bundles or other preparation. State how partial availability should be handled rather than leaving the decision to the packing team.
  • Define the dispatch confirmation and exception reporting you need. Include a process for address changes and cancellations before an order is released.

Before you proceed

Review a sample order flow before increasing volume. The objective is a repeatable handover, not a different set of instructions for every shipment.
