Consistent documents help the parties handling a shipment identify the goods and follow the agreed instructions. Requirements vary by commodity, route and transaction, so confirm the final document set with your forwarder and customs representative.

Logistics guide

Consistent documents help the parties handling a shipment identify the goods and follow the agreed instructions. Requirements vary by commodity, route and transaction, so confirm the final document set with your forwarder and customs representative.

Check consistency before submission

  • Compare party names, addresses, cargo descriptions, quantities and weights across the commercial invoice, packing list and shipping instructions.
  • Ask whether the goods require supporting certificates, permits or product information. Assign an owner and due date for each requested document.
  • Review draft transport documents promptly. Keep the approved version clearly identified and notify the relevant parties when a correction is issued.

Before you proceed

A checklist supports preparation but does not replace shipment-specific advice. Resolve conflicting information before the document deadline rather than guessing which version is correct.
